This past October, Lady Gaga released her fifth studio album Joanne. The record came three years after her last solo album Artpop, and in regards to style and arrangement, was completely different. Producers Mark Ronson and RedOne had a hand in Joanne, and collaborators included Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers. Though Joanne inspired mixed reviews, we think her latest stripped down rock/pop/dance album is an incredibly brave effort from an ever talented musician.
First, Joanne was promoted with a short stint of intimate, dive bar shows across the south, many of them country themed to match a big current that resonates through the album. And aside from the Joanne concert dates that took place in 2016, Lady Gaga had her fair share of incredible, live vocal appearances: the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50, partnering with Nile Rodgers at the 58th Annual Grammys for a David Bowie tribute, and performing “Til It Happens To You” at the 88th Academy Awards. Now, following her incredible Super Bowl 51 performance where she headlined the entire show, Lady Gaga has announced a massive ‘Joanne’ World Tour. And based on all of the stunts she pulled out for her halftime performance, we think it’s going to be amazing.
